My review of the Louis Vuitton Brea MM in Rose Velours; limited edition 2013

With the rain splattering down my window and the coldness creeping through the house, I kinda had nothing to do so...I decided I might try my hand at blogging. Although I haven't ventured into the blogging world before, it seems like a interesting place to gather and express my thoughts!

As there was nothing much on the Louis Vuitton Rose Velours collection on the Internet, I might as well share my thoughts on a recent purchase (especially since the Louis Vuitton website doesn't really do the Brea MM justice!(you can see this here)

Louis Vuitton Rose Velours Collection
In Australia, the Rose Velours Collection recently launched, together the Indian Rose (hot pink here in the Brea MM). Both collections were released in the Vernis and were ideally very feminine. The Rose Velours, being the soft baby pink, came in a number of different styles, namely the Alma BB/PM/GM, Brea MM, Monceau BB and the Pochette, along with some other accessories.

After stumbling into the Bondi Louis Vuitton a couple of weeks back, I couldn't stop thinking about the bag and how beautiful and feminine it looked that I couldn't pass it up. Since it was a limited edition colour, I decided that I couldn't resist and had to get it during my lunch break in the city on the next day. When I walked in the sales assistance actually advised me that they weren't sure if they had any left as there were none on display (like in Bondi) but thankfully she found one in the back! It was actually the last one they had in Sydney and it only came out two weeks ago!

Review of the Louis Vuitton Brea MM
I have been using the bag for a couple of weeks now and have found it to be quite functional and extremely light weight. However, I have to admit, the colour of the bag was the central thing that drew me to the bag in the first place. I like that it is feminine, not too flashing and that it emits a rather younger feel. It is also a relatively comfortable size for me considering I am quite petite in comparison to the GM which did seem to consume me.

The only negative comments that I have about the bag is that it is (to me) sometimes a little too flashy to be worn as a every day bag (even though the Brea MM in Indian Rose is more extravagant) . Since I am in university and not too adventurous, I can't imagine wearing it out all the time...so I have only taken it out a few times; for work or when I have night out with the girls. Another thing is that I have noticed  that the leather straps have patinaed a little (though I'm unsure as to whether this is my OCD coming through!).

So overall, the pros of the bag would be that its is: functional, lightweight, feminine and relatively uncommon (I tend to dislike it when I have a bag that everyone else does though probably everyone feels like that too right? especially since I had that experience with my Prada saffiano tote that I purchased in 2011 and I ended up seeing it everywhere!!)
Whilst the cons of the bag (to me) are: the patina of the handles and straps, a little flashy at times and......that the bag kinda of goes out of shape when the zipper is undone.
